Egyptian Art
Our next  project in our tour of “Art Through the Ages”  was Egyptian Art.  We looked at  the amazing pyramids built by the Ancient Egyptians and discussed the artwork found inside.

We read about the  interesting way Egyptian artists portrayed human figures with the head, hips and legs in profile, while the chest faces front.  We also looked at  some hieroglyphics and talked about the discovery of the Rosetta stone.

After trying to recreate this  impossible position ourselves, we set to work drawing an Egyptian profile.  Figures were outlined with Sharpie and painted with watercolor.  I think the results are  beautiful!

The K-2 grade class focused on drawing King Tut's mask and colored it with oil pastels.
